From Darkness to Light with One Touch. Be the Hope for Eyes in Africa!

Cataract Surgery

A mother seeing her child’s face again after 15 years. A grandfather locking eyes with his grandchildren for the very first time. These miracles—made possible by a simple 20-minute operation—remain an unreachable dream in the remote corners of Africa and Asia.

Cataract is a completely treatable eye condition affecting over 65 million people globally. Yet, millions of people living in impoverished regions are condemned to live in darkness simply because they cannot access this basic treatment. The scorching heat, limited access to clean water, and inadequate healthcare services are among the main causes contributing to the high number of cataract cases in Africa.

As Çare Doctors, we set out to be a light for these people. Our volunteer ophthalmologists perform life-changing procedures in mobile surgical tents equipped with modern medical tools during 10-day health camps. Every surgery means a life renewed.

Since 2019, we’ve performed over 3,500 cataract surgeries, restoring sight and hope to thousands. In Uganda’s Yumbe region alone, 217 surgeries; in Tanzania’s Pangani, 235 operations. Behind each number lies a life story—a moment of hope.

With 3,000 TL, you can fully sponsor a cataract surgery; with a 1,000 TL contribution, you can take part in changing someone’s world. Your donation will help someone trapped in darkness rediscover the beauty of life.

Your donation is for that moment when darkness turns into light. One touch, one life. At Çare Association, we witness the stories of hope behind every cataract surgery and bring miracles to life—through you.

“We are merely a means.”
