Ransom

Fidyah is a religious-financial obligation paid in case of not performing some worship or committing some mistakes during its performance. The fidyah related to worship is in question in fasting and pilgrimage. A person who cannot fast due to old age and an illness that has no hope of healing, and then cannot make up for it later, pays a ransom for each day that he cannot fast. In the Qur'an, “Those who cannot afford to fast pay a ransom equal to the satisfaction of a poor person” (Baqara, 2/184) is commanded.
