Food, Water, and Health Aid Delivered to Mandera
With the support of its donors, Çare Association carried out a comprehensive humanitarian relief operation in Mandera, a Kenyan city located on the Somali border, to assist refugees struggling against poverty and drought. Food packages, cash assistance, clean water, and healthcare support were delivered to those in need in the region.
The Harsh Struggle for Survival in Mandera
In Mandera, one of the poorest regions of Kenya, refugees who fled from the conflicts in Somalia are struggling to survive under minimal conditions. Malnutrition, lack of access to clean water, and inadequate healthcare services remain the most pressing issues in the area.
During our field visits, we encountered many people in urgent need of assistance — including disabled individuals, paralyzed patients, and mothers in critical condition. Although the aid provided is vital, the overwhelming number of hungry and impoverished people reveals the urgent need for more food and water support in the region.
Comprehensive Aid That Touches Lives
To bring some relief to those living under these challenging circumstances, we at Çare Association took action with the trust and support of our donors. Our activities included:
• Food Packages Delivered to Homes:
Food parcels containing essential nutrition items were distributed to hundreds of families in Mandera. Elderly, sick, and disabled individuals who could not reach the distribution points were not forgotten — our teams went door to door to deliver the food directly to them.
• Charity and Zakat Distributed in Cash:
Donations of sadaqah and zakat sent by our donors were converted into local currency and distributed in cash, enabling families to meet their urgent needs according to their own priorities.
• Clean Water Support Provided:
To alleviate the severe water shortage in the area, water was delivered by tanker trucks to help communities access clean and safe drinking water.
• A Promise to Restore Sight:
During one of our visits, it was discovered that an elderly woman could regain her vision through a minor surgical operation. We pledged to cover all of her medical expenses, including the operation, medications, and nutritional support during her recovery period.
A Helping Hand from Türkiye, Changing Lives
