Çare Association contributed to a humanitarian aid operation prepared under the coordination of AFAD to support the Somali people in their fight against hunger. The “Ship of Goodness” was sent off from Mersin Port carrying 1,969 packages of pasta, 1,536 bottles of oil, and 360 bags of flour, heading toward Somalia.
The people of Somalia have been battling drought and hunger for many years. Turkiye’s compassion has reached out to the Somali people in these difficult times. On September 30, 2024, the “Ship of Goodness” set sail from Mersin International Port to Somalia’s Mogadishu Port, including contributions from the Çare Association among its cargo. Our relief supplies, prepared in Kahramanmaraş, were transported to Mersin by trucks and included in this large-scale humanitarian aid mission organized by AFAD. We are committed to alleviating the struggles of the Somali people and standing by them in their hard times.
Under the coordination of AFAD and in collaboration with the Çare Association and other civil society organizations, the “Ship of Goodness” carries 130,000 food packages, various food items, hygiene products, clothing, and shelter materials needed in the region. These aid supplies have set off for Mogadishu Port to bring a ray of hope to the Somali people fighting hunger and poverty. As the Çare Association, we believe that each of these aid items will touch lives, and we are honored to be part of this solidarity.
